I'm getting ready to go to ireland but.....
Published: 05/15/2003howdy,
first thanks for actually starting to read my diary. even though i am getting my ass in gear to go to ireland in 32 hours i figure you might want to hear a couple things about me, especially if you dont know me too well, or at all. so i have compiled a top ten list of sorts that might help you get to know me a little better
Top Ten Things You Should Know 'Bout Larry Perera
10.) I'm 25
9.) I live on scenic Cape Cod, only .8 km from the beach
8.) I have been riding 'racin' bicycles seriously since the millenium
7.) I have 47 days of racing in my legs since the start of 2003 - thats like 10 more than lance does all year...and i still am slow
6.) I am Matt Svatek's personal domestique (only real pros get those)
5.) I put gas in my car 3 times today and my gas light went on 3 times even though i only drove 76 miles
4.) I ran out of gas coming home from tonights training race in Lincoln RI
3.) As far as I can tell nobody in my family is Colombian
2.) If you want to see some sweet pictures of me....all kitted up in sportsbook.com stuff check out our website http://www.sportsbookcycling.com
1.) As of 11:27 pm i'm single
So now that you have a feel for what im like i'll start to tell you about whats up. I'm leaving for the Milk Raas - aka the tour of ireland on friday and i have so much crap to get done before then it will be a miracle if i actually get on that plane. I'm going there with 4 other teammates, and our trusty - plan ahead (i swear he plans for everything no stone goes unturned!)- director Bill Laundien. (by the way i cant say enough bout bill hes the man - i think hes more stoked to go to ireland than most of the team!) we will meet up with our irish soigneur, our mechanic, and the local sportbook.com executives once we get there. i'm going to ireland pretty much to carry water for svatek....make sure he gets a wheel, push him when nature calls, carry his spare tube of Honey Stinger Gold, and guide him through the bunch to position him in time for the KOM's. Uh Oh i think I just let the cat out of the bag, yeah matty has been leaning out these past few weeks and hes looking like one of those selle italia colombian climbers in this years giro.
The racin starts on sunday so that gives us about 16 hours to get over the jet-lag, build our bikes, eat, get kitted up, ride, eat, sleep, eat, and get re-kitted up. Be sure to check out the damage we're doing over there on the web....im sure the results will be somewhere. If the results actually go beyond the top 20 and you see me 24 minutes down after the first stage its all cause i was bringing svatek up 5 bottles from the caravan when the hammer went down and i got gapped off - HA!
so thanks for checking out my diary. if any of you people who have made it down this far in my dairy have any input of what you would like to see...or hear me write about...beyond the price of diet soda in ireland or how my team car is only for official burnouts in the parking lot (i dont have a team car) be sure to let me know! so if you feel the need to email me you can do so at larryperer@hotmail.com
i'll give you a race report from ireland...
later,
larry perera
