Milk Ras 2003 - Part 1 - sorry its a bit boring!

Published: 05/29/2003

ok so i know that this is late. im pretty much back to square one. my place is a mess and there is piles of bike stuff all over the place. theres like 10 half full day-old coffee cups laying around and i am allready trying to get ready to head down "south" for philly week.

anyways...so it all began at newark intl. airport where we all met up, including our new rookie-pro teammate ryan dewald. i took a sleeping pill before we had even boarded the plane and i was out before we even took off. Once we landed in Dublin we mere met by some race voluteers who drove us and our bikes to the race hotel where we built our bikes, fought over our new super light fir carbon aero wheels, and went out to put in the K's....it actually turned out to be about 20 idiot loops through the nearby park.

that night we met the rest of our "team staff" We had one driver who drove a van full of our luggage from hotel to hotel and then drank the day away at the local pub. We had two professional mechanics, one who would be driving the team car, and our foxy soigneur Letty. i can honestly say that the trip would not have been possible without them....they worked hard throughout the week, and when our morale was down they worked overtime to try and cheer us up.

After all the hellos with our new team staff we headed down to the official race dinner. i could see the sweat pouring off myerson's brow when he realized that there would be no vegan meal option tonight. dinner gave us a chance to check out the other teams.....there were pro teams from scandanavia (bianchi), australia, and south africa, the kashakstan national team, a french team, the great britain national team, several first rate british amateur teams, the irish national team, and a bunch of other irish teams.

after dinner we pretty much lounged around, watched some TV, and pinned on our race numbers...not very exciting.

i gotta run, but i promise my race diaries will be more enterntaining!
