National MTB Standings - May 6

----------Cross Country --------------------------------------

Jeff Schalk (Washington, D.C.) of the Trek VW squad took the first spot in the men's pro division at the Greenbrier Challenge, while Theresa Richardson (Davidsonville, Md.) earned the women's title. The Idyllwild Spring Challenge marked the seventh race on May 3 with Trevor Walton (Redlands, Calif.) and Carolyn Popovic (Hesperia, Calif.) winning the men's and women's pro categories respectively. -------------- Gravity -----------------------------------

The second event on the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Gravity Calendar, the Chalk Creek Stampede, took place in Nathrop, Colo., May 2-3. Both the dual slalom and 4-cross contests were a part of the calendar, with Aaron Gwin (Morongo Valley, Calif.) taking the dual slalom crown and Petr Hanak (Winter Park, Colo.) winning the 4-cross event. The women's standings also got cranked up with Joanna Petterson (Folsom, Calif.) winning both the 4-cross and dual slalom contests.
